Waitangi Day

#3 fun facts about Te Tiriti O Waitangi:

When was the Treaty of Waitangi first signed? -The treaty of Waitangi was first signed in the year 1840 - 6th of February.

Who was involved in the treaty of Waitangi? - The treaty of Waitangi was a signed agreement between the British Crown and a great number of Maori chiefs, so altogether over 500 people signed the treaty of Waitangi.

When did The treaty of Waitangi become a public holiday in New Zealand? - Waitangi Day was first celebrated in 1934, but it was made a national public holiday in 1974 - 6th of February.

#Point of view of the treaty of Waitangi:

A point of view that I saw is a Maori community. They're one being about, coming together as one and making that day a celebration, with people/folks.

#My perspective on Waitangi day:

Do I think Waitangi day should be celebrated? - No, the reason for that is because most people around New Zealand, do! use that day, as a day off, some still have to work and go school, but really this day being celebrated is really unnecessary. Most people don't really celebrate it or give thanks to this day, and most don't know the real reason or purpose of that day.But if Waitangi shouldn't be a public New Zealand holiday, shouldn't other unnecessary holiday's around the world, and in our country be dismissed and not needed as well? - Example: Easter, Halloween, etc.
